Brass Bullet Bracelet in Progress

Well, I am enamored with the etching!  I have so many ideas but have not had much time to really explore yet but this is what I have managed to do so far.

First I started out with a bullet that I had removed the end from.

 Flattened it out

Drilled holes in the pieces for connections

Mask off back and add design

Etch and clean the brass pieces

Add the jump rings to connect the bracelet

I am working on a cool clasp but I have not started it yet!  That is still in my head!

Etching - FIrst Try

I love the look of etched metal but had not tried to attempt it until today!  These are first things I have done.  I did the design freehand so I am hoping for more detail as I get better.  This has opened up a whole new area of design for me!

My house on Indy 500 Race Day!

For those of you that have never experienced Race Day in Speedway, this is a glimpse into what it is like.  We live about 5 blocks away from the track in a residential area.  We do live on a main street but not the main artery that runs to the interstate around Indianapolis.  The traffic flow today was light because of a new traffic pattern the police are using, but this gives you an idea.  These pictures were taken between 10:30-11:30 this morning.    I will post more pics after the race is finished.  Now that is something to see!

Now.... let's go racing!

Belle Armoire Jewelry Summer 2012

I was so excited to receive a copy of Belle Armoire Jewelry Summer 2012 magazine today because I have a necklace in it!!!  I have always loved this publication and to be in it is such a wonderful thing!
As always, it is full of wonderful pieces of imaginative jewelry.  The featured artist is Mary Hettmansperger, who is from Indiana also and who I took a class from several years ago.  I love her work!  If you can, grab a copy and check out all the beautiful jewelry and maybe even learn some new techniques!
